Lets Break Reiki Down
Reiki is an energy that must be experienced. It is not #voodoo, #obeah, #santeria, or any other ATR practice. It is a modality and tool that will last your entire lifetime.
A Reiki session is like a guided meditation but more transformative in its approach and result. If you have never received a Reiki session before, it can seem a bit intimidating to a newbie. You walk into a room, and someone tells you to lie down on a massage table and take a deep breath. They play music, maybe you fall asleep, maybe you just lie there still with your thoughts racing and wait until it's over. An hour later, it's over and you are escorted out and offered a glass of water.
You're thinking to yourself, that's it?! You see this is where it is important to know and understand your Reiki practitioner. Reiki practitioners are not one size fits all and all don't have the same gifts as others. You see anyone can become a practitioner, and there are no pre-requisites. All practitioners are vessels but some have gifts such as #clairs, some are #mediums, some are #empaths, some embody all of the above and some embody none.
That's why when looking for a practitioner it's important to connect on a deeper level. You will not know what to expect before the first visit, but the first visit should tell you if that practitioner is for you.
During your first session you should have filled an intake form or the practitioner may go over it with you beforehand. Your practitioner should do a short intake gaging where you are physically, mentally, emotionally, & spiritually. You will also be asked if you have any areas of concern. This part of the intake is where transparency is key. The more open and honest you are with your practitioner makes it easier to understand what state your chakras are currently in.
After the intake process, you will be asked to get comfortable on a massage bed if you are in person or find a comfortable space in your home if virtual. Your practitioner should make you as comfortable as possible before starting. Some play music, light incense, or have a waterfall flowing in the background, it varies. Your practitioner will then do what's called #bioscan, which is where they scan the body to see if they find any #byoki while checking the status of your chakras. Once the state of the chakras is recorded, the practitioner proceeds to start opening them.
Each practitioner may be led to start the first session with either drawing down energy, meaning they start from the #crownchakra and end at the #rootchakra, or drawing energy up and in, meaning they start from the #rootchakra and end at the #crownchakra. You may feel some sensations such as heat or cold during your session. Cold means that a blockage was removed and heat means that obstacles and resistance are still being burned through. The intensity of each feeling will let you know how much is being removed.
Once the session is done your chakras are closed down, your energy sealed and your aura treated. Your practitioner may offer you water while they discuss any messages they may have received during your session or any thoughts or messages that came up for you.
Every individual is different and if it's the first visit you may need more #Reiki sessions to be completely open. After your session, there may be emotions, trauma, sadness, crying fits, and more that you may experience. This is where the true healing lies, be easy on the body, stay hydrated, and acknowledge what is coming up, release and tackle the next emotion.
If your practitioner recommends more sessions, do yourself a favor and book them! It's integral for your healing and helping your body to operate with all of your energy centers open. Getting one session and never looking back is like putting $5 gas in a V8 vehicle that's on E!
